A second novel for author John McLellan
We were delighted to be asked to print a second novel of local author John McLellan. Now in the hands of its author, ‘Unconformity’ will be released in Spring 2024. John’s first novel was one of the first orders we gratefully received coming out of a very long, slow lock-down in 2022. It’s always a pleasure to bring a book into being so we were especially thrilled when the self-publisher received strong early success, and asked us to print more and more!
John’s first novel, The Faultline, is the story of a young geologist’s exploration of landscape, love and friendship and is set in the beautiful mountains of Ullapool in Scotland.
John was astounded at the initial success of his debut novel, which has seen sales of over 1500 copies at one bookshop alone (Ullapool Bookshop). Then followed interviews on BBC Radio Bristol, podcasts (Northern Bibliosphere and John D Burns), talks at St Duthac Festival, Gairloch Museum, Max Minerva’s Bookshop (Bristol), and also perhaps the most poignantly, at ‘Kinlochewe Village Hall,’ located right next door to where his novel is set.
On the back of this success the author wrote a second book ‘Unconformity’ as a standalone novel, but readers of ‘The Faultline’ will also enjoy some continuation of the characters and their journey, set over four summers.
For the stunning cover image, John worked with Photographer, Ross Davidson, to choose the view from Beinn Eighe ridge, featured in the novel. The full-wrap cover design was art-worked by our very own Kai Harrison and we were pleased to undertake carbon-neutral print and production here in Bristol.
John is planning more events and talks to coincide with the launch of ‘Unconformity’ including visits and book-signings in Lochinver and Gairloch, as well as Radio interviews in Bristol.
